The 8th annual Visitor Experience Conference is calling for innovative and visitor experience – defining proposals. We invite you to share how you and your institution create a culture that enhances and nurtures the visitor experience. Our conference focuses on best practices, the sharing of ideas, and working together to build and nurture a community of risk-takers and forward thinkers in the profession who are defining “visitor experience” in their region.

Join us, and share your expertise in Philadelphia on October 13-15, 2019, as we focus on the pursuit of excellence and strive to define and enhance the visitor experience in a variety of panels, discussions, events, and workshops at the 2019 Visitor Experience Conference.

Please follow these guidelines for submitting:

Proposals must be submitted by March 22, 2019. Only complete submissions will be reviewed.

Sessions are 60 minutes in length (this includes time for question and answers).

Sessions will ideally have some interactive/action element.

While case studies are nice, please balance them with actionable and concrete ideas that attendees can use at their own institutions.

If there is more than one presenter working on a proposal together, please establish a point of contact.

Suggestions for Presenters

Sessions are 60 minutes in length and should include time for Q&A. Please keep in mind that it is important to remember who your audience is as you develop your session. Attendees are at various stages in their careers and come from a variety of industries in the cultural field. Engaging sessions with interactive components are recommended.


Presenters will not be compensated for travel or time spent, but speakers will receive complimentary registration to the Monday conference and keynote sessions.  

Decision-Making Timeline:

Decisions regarding the selection of sessions and panelists will be e-mailed to all candidates by April 12, 2019.  Please email programming@visitorexperience.group or visit visitorexperience.group with any questions during the process.

Theme – The Pursuit of Happiness:

Philadelphia is known for many things, among them a little document that declared the importance of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Of course, these inalienable rights were not applied to all people and, while some progress has been made, there is still a great amount of work to be done.

How does your institution contribute to this work? What obstacles impede the happiness of your visitors? What constitutes an exceptional visit to your institution? How do you help your staff pursue their happiness? In what revolutionary ways are you serving your visitors?
